Frost, Photographer took these performance pictures of Dr. Mad Max in
oil rigger's blaze orange suit |
|
This
oil rigger is ready to play with: latex cat suit under rig
suit, Nokia,
Island Trappers, latex hood with gas mask over top, Industrial 14" rubber gloves complete the outfit. The 2 piece oil rigger's suit
is made of a soft supple blaze orange thick rubber. The bib pants
have elastic
boot and storm cuff. The jacket has a through the crotch suit strap
that buckles in front. The waist belt is padded ready for a Scott
Pack. The
hood is large enough to wear a breathing apparatus, and hard hat.
The sleeves and neck are elastic. Flotation material lines the jacket.
Nice to wear
grocery shopping or window shopping on a cold day. |

Max also has Wesco knee highs, Fox cycle boots, hip waders, chest waders, stocking waders in various rubber types and colour and 1949 black hip waders by Miner Boot Company, and similar pair of 1953 Acton Boot, hip waders, all brand new. Max has suits for diving, Viking Sport, Bare, Narwhal, O'neill, Brown and Isoteq wet and dry suits. US Air force Survival suit, and Environmental Protection suit also kick around. Max is designing his own encapsulation Hazmat suit in reinforced latex. | |||
Max has acquired a few new and older gas masks. Max has had some like the Russian Gas Mask made into full hoods with .070" thick hand molded latex. |
The fashion statement now over let's see if Max can put this stuff to work in the Mud.

Entry
is a slide done a muddy bank only knee deep here.
| Relax
a little after before heading to the deep fine clay |
Getting
out at the river's edge can be a lovely challenge

Pondering
important things in life | Above:
We tied rope to the wrists of the photographer in the Black Diamond and
hip waders, just in case the mud sucked too deep. (smile). We had to dig
her out
|
||
Getting
in is like taking an elevator: stand still and down you go | Enough
water makes the mud entry an easy trip; not much work but good suction
sensations from the rubber layers |
About
as far in as buoyancy will allow |
Relax
in a nice soft cool muddy spot |
Time to clean
up, no rush | How do I get
all this mud down here? |
| Mud walk gear from inside to out: pvc smooth 2 sides stocking waders, second pair of rubber lined pvc stocking waders, US army rubber pants, socks to keep feet from pulling out of the boot when stuck in the mud, then extra high rubber chest waders. On top, starts with neoprene shirt, US army rubber parka, one inside the chest waders and one outside. Thin neoprene gloves under elbow length heavy electrician's gloves. Add shovel, knap sack, food, waster and rope and away we go. We try to get out two to three times a month, more in the Spring and Fall rainy days. This site is only a 45 minute drive from Ottawa. | |
