Dr. Mad Max Rubber Week July 2004

Ottawa, Ontario

Crazy things can happen in Ottawa at any time. However, it was time for Dr. Mad Max to give his rubber friends a break from the hard escape challenges and experiences of the week long rubber event at the Dr. Mad Max Psycho Laboratory.  The July 22 - 29 Rubber week was a by invitation only for guys to get into hazmat suits, dive gear and latex for escape challenges. The air tight vertical morgue fridge was popular amongst the suspensions, the Oubliette too, and well - it was Dr. Mad Max style all the way.

The Laboratory is under construction but all managed to find something to escape into or out of. But after a few days of indoor activity it was time for Dr. Mad Max to surprise the boys with an outing.

Saturday afternoon the latex and lycra catsuits were dug out. Dr. Mad Max and his Assistant did talk the boys into trying on the latex sjs on hand and sure enough they were more than willing. It was then,  without a warning, Dr. Mad Max pushed them out the front door to waiting rickshaw runners to give the rubber guys a tour of downtown Ottawa.

The tour started down the main drag, Bank Street. It passed the Parliament Buildings, then along the Sparks Street Mall. With a rest stop a few photo ops in front of Canada's famous Four Corners and then it was off again along the mall to end up in front of the Fairmont Chateau Laurier overlooking the Rideau Canal. It was originally built in 1826-1837 as a defense route after the war of 1812-1814. Now it is a 117 mile tourist attraction.

The boys without the sjs finished up their holiday photo shots. Then all climbed on board to continue the tour into the Byward Market. The Market is a tourist, restaurant and night life area dedicated to those that want to party day and night. WIth that in mind it seemed appropriate that the tour end at one of the more notable (more like notorious) taverns - The Dominion for dinner. The Dominion Tavern was established as one of the first taverns in Ottawa and still operates in its 1840's stone building. (Dominion named as in Dominion of Canada) The best kept secret in Ottawa is the amazing food that is created  by Moe for the tavern. Hamburgers to Lasagna to.... ahh it was really great. Oh, did we forget the beer. Micro brews to the I Am Canadian Molson is all there. Did we have fun.

Sorry we cannot show everyone's smiles but believe me they were grinning form ear to ear.

Oh God - There' a straw in my beer!
Hands free dinners can be very entertaining - but the straw in the beer how uncouth! Gotta teach these Americans how to drink Canadian Beer.
